Hodgson still searching for offensive touch with Predators
There's little to dislike about the Nashville Predators' 6-1-1 record to start the season. Though, one of Nashville's offseason acquisitions is still looking to hit his stride despite the team's solid record.
Cody Hodgson went to Nashville with high hopes after a miserable season where he notched just 13 points while posting a minus-23 rating on a struggling Buffalo Sabres team. Brought in to provide a much-needed offensive punch for the Predators, the 25-year-old is yet to record a point through eight games.
"I'm just trying to fit in and do well with the team," Hodgson said Wednesday, according to Adam Vingan of The Tennessean. "I think as a team, we're doing well and that's the important thing. Obviously, I'd like to contribute more offensively like I know I can, but I think that'll come."
Backstopped by three-time Vezina Trophy finalist Pekka Rinne and one of the deepest defense units in the league, the team should have little trouble keeping scores low. But if the Predators hope to finally make a deep playoff run, production from Hodgson could be an X-factor.
"Working with different linemates and different guys, I know we're getting a feel for each other," Hodgson said. "On the ice, it's going to click here soon."
The 25-year-old will have a chance to break out of the slump Wednesday night against the San Jose Sharks.
