Bruins' Kelly not thinking about retirement
Boston Bruins forward Chris Kelly isn't of the mind that breaking his femur in a freak non-contact incident earlier this month was the terminal moment of his NHL career.
"(Retirement is) the furthest thing from my mind,” Kelly said Thursday, according to Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe. "I think age, in my opinion, is just a mindset."
"I want to continue to play," he added. "I love the game. I love being around the guys."
Kelly was given a six-to-eight-month timetable for a return after the incident, meaning his season, barring extreme and completely unforeseen circumstances, is over.
"I've got a lot of hard work ahead of me, which I don't mind, and we'll see what happens," he said. "I can't predict the future. All I can do is worry about rehabbing and getting my leg to where it needs to be.
"I'm extremely confident that I'll get there."
