Luongo thrust into Panthers' crease after Montoya collision
Florida Panthers netminder Roberto Luongo was forced into action on his scheduled night off after Al Montoya was involved in a collision with Los Angeles Kings forward Nick Shore.
Montoya made the initial save on the rush before the rebound squirted to his left. Shore dove for the puck with some help from the chasing defender, and knocked off Montoya's helmet before landing on the goaltender's shoulder and outstretched arm.
The puck ended up in the net, but after the Kings issued a challenge contending that Shore was pushed in, the call on the ice - no goal - was upheld.
Luongo made seven straight starts for the Panthers heading into the contest.
Montoya provided indication after the game that he didn't suffer a significant injury.
