The definition of inconclusive was stretched to the limit Saturday in Winnipeg.
With 20 seconds remaining in overtime, Jets forward Mark Scheifele appeared to end the game with a wrist shot past Braden Holtby.
Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz, however, was convinced that Blake Wheeler was offside, challenging the ruling and calling for a review.
And that's what the officials did ... for almost 10 minutes.
The official ruling from the NHL read as follows:
Review was not conclusive in determining whether Winnipeg was offside prior to the goal. According to Rule 78.7, "If a review is not conclusive and/or there is any doubt whatsoever as to whether the call on the ice was correct, the On-Ice Official(s) will be instructed to confirm their original call."
Therefore the original call stands - good goal Winnipeg Jets.
Even after all that, Trotz wasn't convinced. Not even close.

The goal was Scheifele's 10th of the season, and probably the most delayed official celebration of his life.
