The WHL's Calgary Hitmen went big this year.
The junior club sold out its annual teddy bear toss game for the first time at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, an arena they share with the NHL's Flames.
It made for quite the spectacle when the Hitmen scored their first goal, courtesy of Jordy Stallard, and assisted by Philadelphia Flyers prospect Travis Sanheim.
The holiday tradition was inaugurated by the Kamloops Blazers in 1993. Since then, the stakes have been raised by many teams, and thousands of bears have hit the ice around the hockey world ever since.
On Sunday, the bar was set even higher.
