None of the other 29 teams are willing to clean up the Montreal Canadiens' mess.
Forward Alex Semin cleared waivers after the club put his contract up for grabs Monday, according to multiple reports.
Semin has been a disappointment this season after agreeing to a one-year, $1.1-million contract during the offseason.
The 31-year-old has just one goal and four points in 15 games.
He will now report to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John's IceCaps.
In a corresponding move, the team recalled forward Charles Hudon from the IceCaps. He has 20 points in 24 games with the team this season.
