The cross-check-happy Columbus Blue Jackets continued to dole out two-handed punishment to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the absence of Sidney Crosby on Monday night.
Defender Dalton Prout used the shaft of his stick to tee off on Sergei Plotnikov in the corner, unleashing a series of forceful cross-checks into the shoulder area as well as up dangerously close to the rookie's head.
He was assessed a double-minor for the infraction, and the NHL's Department of Player Safety - which suspended Brandon Dubinsky earlier this season for landing a cross-check to the back of Crosby's head - won't levy further discipline, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.
