John Carlson's consecutive games streak ends 10 shy of Capitals record

John Carlson won't be the Washington Capitals' iron man. Not yet, anyway.
The workhorse defenseman saw his 412-match streak of consecutive games end 10 shy of Bobby Carpenter's franchise record Monday night when he failed to make Barry Trotz's lineup for the Buffalo Sabres.
He's considered day to day with a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated Tuesday.
Connor Carrick has checked in for the Capitals' workhorse, making his first appearance this season.
It should be noted that Carpenter's record isn't safe. Karl Alzner is working in his 411th consecutive game for Washington.
