Brian Elliott has reincarnated the same pads once worn by one of the franchise's all-time goalies.

The St. Louis Blues netminder has had a set of equipment designed that replicates the set former Blues goaltender Curtis Joseph donned during his stint with the club during the '90s.

Elliott admits Cujo was an inspiration of his growing up and finding an old Joseph hockey card at his house gave him the idea for the design.

"He was in Heaton gear, which they don't make anymore. The gear was all blue, and I thought it looked really cool," Elliott told Chris Pinkert of Blues.com. "His mask when he was first here, with the two trumpets on top and the Blue Notes on the chin on the music sheet, it always stuck out in my head as a kid. I wanted to pay tribute to him because I was such a fan and idolized him."

Elliott plans to have a mask made up with the same golden trumpets that Joseph's included. The 30-year-old will put the pads into action on Jan. 16 for Goalies Night where the Blues will recognize some of the franchise's former goaltenders before a game against the Montreal Canadiens.
