The coming weeks could be very telling for the New Jersey Devils.

The club received their latest injury blow Friday. This time seeing forward Tuomo Ruutu placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury retroactive to Jan. 6.

The news comes just a day after the club announced the team's leading scorer Mike Cammalleri had also been placed on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Ruutu and Cammalleri join a growing list of Devils who currently occupy the press box with various ailments.

Player Injury/Extent
Mike Cammalleri Upper Body (IR)
Tuomo Ruutu Lower Body (IR)
Patrik Elias Knee (IR)
Jacob Josefson Lower Body (IR)
David Schlemko Lower Body (DTD)
Tyler Kennedy Upper Body (DTD)

After unexpectedly jumping out of the gate in October and November, the Devils have limped to a 4-5-1 record in their last 10 games, including losses in their last two.

The Devils continue to hold down the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, but surely injuries to the club leave their current position somewhat in the balance.
