Connor McDavid has to be nearing a return, because his previously broken clavicle has become fair game on Twitter.
Aaron Ekblad, in town with the Florida Panthers, landed a well-crafted social media jab after having his dinner paid for by his fellow first overall draft pick and Ontario Hockey League alumnus.
Glad to see @cmcdavid97 is recovering well from surgery. Made a big step tonight when he reached for his wallet at dinner. #T-rexArms π¦

McDavid won't be in the lineup Sunday when the red-hot Panthers put their 11-game win streak on the line, but he shouldn't be too much longer. Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal wrote Saturday that Feb. 2 is McDavid's anticipated return date.
