Altshuller was recalled by the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
Analysis:
Altshuller began the season in the ECHL, but success resulted in a bump to the AHL. The 21-year-old continued to post positive results between the pipes at that level (currently holding a 9-1-1 records with a 1.71 GAA and .941 save percentage), and the placement of Cam Ward on injured reserve has earned him a promotion to the parent club. Altshuller will serve as the backup behind Eddie Lack for the time being, but a start would represent his NHL debut.
