Olympians come in all different shapes and sizes, and no two U.S. athletes in Rio demonstrate that more clearly than gymnast Ragan Smith and basketball player DeAndre Jordan.
Smith, a 15-year-old alternate on the gymnastics squad, is listed at 4-foot-6. Jordan, USA basketball's backup center, stands 6-foot-11. They represent the tallest and shortest of the U.S. contingent in Rio.

Volleyballer David Lee and gymnast Simone Biles did their own stark comparison last week, but the height difference between Jordan and Smith is about a half-foot greater.
