Sarah Sjostrom broke her own world record in the women's 100-meter butterfly final Sunday, becoming Sweden's first female swimming gold medalist with a time of 55.48 seconds.
Her gold is Sweden's first since Lars Frolander won the men's 100-meter butterfly in 2000.
She finished almost a full second in front of 16-year-old Canadian Penny Oleksiak, who won her second medal at Rio 2016.
The defending Olympic champion, American Dana Vollmer, finished third.
Sjostrom finished fourth in London.
