Canada's Melissa Bishop claws into 800m final

Canada's Melissa Bishop advanced to the 800m final at Rio 2016, cruising to the finish line second on Thursday at the end of a physical semifinal No. 2.
Dealing with pushing and shoving in the middle of a congested field, the reigning world silver medalist settled for the sixth-fastest time overall after having run the best heat in qualification.

Caster Semenya, Lynsey Sharp, Kate Grace, and Maryna Arzamasava, the four fastest runners in qualification for the final, each emerged from the third heat.
Bishop will race for a spot on the podium under the lights Saturday night at Olympic Stadium.
