Tokyo Olympics: Men's 100m dash preview

The men's 100m dash at the Tokyo Games is slated for July 30, and there's a clear-cut favorite atop the oddsboard.

Here are the prices to win the gold medal, as well as a breakdown of the field.

The United States is well-represented, with three athletes priced 16-1 or shorter.

Bromell, the best of the bunch and odds-on favorite, got a nice tuneup before the event, winning the Diamond League meet in Great Britain with a time of 9.98 seconds. The 26-year-old edged out a handful of contenders he'll see in Tokyo, including Canada's De Grasse and fellow countrymen Baker and Kerley.

Injuries plagued Bromell over the past couple of years, but he appears to be back in elite shape. If he can't get it done, one of his two teammates might.

Baker and Kerley earned the second and third spots for Team USA after posting times of 9.85 and 9.86 seconds, respectively, at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. Both results were personal bests for the pair.

Jamaica's Usain Bolt reigned supreme at the 2016 Rio Games, in a field that included De Grasse (third), Blake (fourth), Simbine (fifth), Vicaut (seventh), and Bromell (eighth).

Simbine, in particular, is peaking at the right time, recently setting an African record in the 100m with a 9.84 time. He also ran anchor for South Africa's gold-medal win in the 2021 World Athletics Relays held in Poland this past May.

Blake, meanwhile, is another long shot with plenty of experience. The silver-medal winner from the 2012 circuit also became the youngest 100m champion following a victory in the World Championships the year prior.
