Bogey-free round puts Rahm atop Quicken Loans leaderboard
Jon Rahm is your leader after the first round at the Quicken Loans National. He shot a 7-under 64, after rain delayed the start of the tournament.
Only 21, Rahm fired seven birdies and played a bogey-free round.
"I was anticipating this moment," he said, according to the Associated Press. "I'm working on it a long time that I kind of blacked out a little bit. I don't remember a single swing I made all day or any putting stroke or anything. I just remember the ball flying or rolling."
Rahm's confident after a 23rd-place finish at the U.S. Open last week.
Jhonattan Vegas is in second place after a 6-under 65, while seven golfers sit at 5-under, including Ernie Els.
"I felt comfortable with my swing this week," Els said after his round. "I've had a very tough year. I haven't played very well, so I need to start playing well."
