The Open betting odds: Dustin Johnson, Jason Day lead pack

The world's top golfers will take on Royal Troon this weekend at the 145th running of The Open.
Players will tackle deep bunkers, tall fescue, and unpredictable weather - all staples of the historic tournament - as the third major of the year gets underway Thursday morning.
The field is deep, but here are the players at the top of the betting odds list:
Player | World Golf Ranking | Odds |
---|---|---|
Dustin Johnson | No. 2 | +800 |
Jason Day | No. 1 | +850 |
Rory McIlroy | No. 4 | +1000 |
Jordan Spieth | No. 3 | +1100 |
Adam Scott | No. 8 | +2000 |
Sergio Garcia | No. 12 | +2200 |
Branden Grace | No. 10 | +2500 |
Henrik Stenson | No. 6 | +2800 |
Justin Rose | No. 11 | +3000 |
Rickie Fowler | No. 7 | +3300 |
Phil Mickelson | No.19 | +4000 |
Lee Westwood | No. 39 | +4000 |
Louis Oosthuizen | No. 14 | +4500 |
Shane Lowry | No. 27 | +4500 |
Martin Kaymer | No. 52 | +4500 |
Dustin Johnson comes in as the favorite, as the world No. 2 has won his last two starts, including the U.S. Open in June.
Jason Day, in search of his second major and first Claret Jug, is hot on DJ's trail heading into the weekend.
While the biggest names are at the top, there's notable names with reasonable betting lines down the list.
Reigning Masters winner Danny Willett is slotted at +5500, while last year's Open champion, Zach Johnson, comes in at +6000.
