Jay Monahan recently took over from Tim Finchem as PGA Tour commissioner on Jan. 1, and the new man in charge believes Tiger Woods can still win on tour.

"Just so we're clear, when he's 75 years old I'm going to still think he can win on the Tour," Monahan told Jay Coffin of the Golf Channel.

Woods, who's coming off a lost season dealing with back issues, added three events to his 2017 schedule on Thursday, that will see him play four events in five weeks.

"It'll bring even more attention to events that are very strong," said Monahan. "Given the amount of time that Tiger's been out of the game there's a great amount of interest and anticipation for how he's going to perform, particularly after making 24 birdies."

The 24 birdies he mentioned is in relation to the amount he made in his return to competitive golf last month at Woods' tournament, the Hero World Challenge. Tiger finished 15th where he carded rounds of 73-65-70-76.

"It's very exciting to think about what he could potentially accomplish in the coming weeks."
