Kisner flirts with 59, soars up leaderboard
Kevin Kisner barely made the cut at the Sony Open on Friday, landing right on the number at 3-under par.
On Saturday, Kisner flirted with golf's magic number, 59, when he made eight birdies through his first 14 holes.
The 32-year-old pulled his second on the 17th, leaving him 24 feet from off the green. He holed his third shot to go to 9-under for the day.

An eagle at the par-5 ninth (his 18th) would give him a 59. #QuickHits pic.twitter.com/SjCJrFaTXl
Kisner needed an eagle at the par-5 ninth, his 18th of the day, to become the eighth player in PGA Tour history to shoot a sub-60 round and second in three days. The South Carolina native hit his drive 341 yards down the middle of the fairway, giving him a short iron into the green for his approach.
