Mickelson closes CareerBuilder with 2-under-par 70
It wasn't the weekend Phil Mickelson was hoping for after a round of 68 on Thursday and a 66 on Friday.
Mickelson struggled over his final 36 holes, shooting a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday and finished poorly Sunday to card a 2-under-par 70.
The 46-year-old made four birdies over his first 11 holes, but added bogeys at No. 15 and at the 18th to finish his week
"It was a really good week. I really enjoyed being a part of this tournament," said Mickelson after the round. "I felt my game was much further along than I thought it would be."
Mickelson hit 15-of-28 fairways and just 19 of 36 greens over the weekend, and acknowledged he wasn't prepared with the driver after making some changes coming into the week.
"I'm working on my driver, I haven't had the time to really adjust to the changes."
The five-time major champion continues his West Coast Swing at Torrey Pines next week and believes his expectations will only increase with each tournament.
"I got to a good start this week in the sense that my game feels much closer, and as the week wore on I shot more and more good shots and fewer really bad shots."
