Rory McIlroy's MRI revealed no new injury but showed a "low-grade response" to a rib problem from earlier this year, he confirmed to The Guardian's Ewan Murray.
The Northern Irishman played through back pain this past weekend at THE PLAYERS Championship, gutting out a final score of 2-over par and finishing tied for 35th place.
McIlroy missed four tournaments over seven weeks at the start of this PGA season while dealing with discomfort in the same area of his back, and was later diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his rib.
Despite being banged up, McIlroy is still currently scheduled to tee it up at the BMW PGA Championship next week.
Rory remains entered for Wentworth... Final decision on that to come early next week.
