PGA Tour players know they're going to face windy conditions when playing in the Lone Star State, but Saturday's Texas Open round was especially difficult.
The golfers had to deal with the usual stiff breeze, but cooler temperatures added another challenge on the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.
After the round, a select few stood above the carnage. Here are some notable numbers:
- 14 - Only 14 players broke par Saturday, with Ryan Palmer producing the best round of the day, a 4-under-par 68.
- 75.27 - The scoring average was 75.27, +3.27 in relation to par, making it the worst round on tour this season.
- 5,721 - A total of 5,721 strokes were taken.
- 0 - There wasn't a single bogey-free round on the day.
- 4 - Four players (Andrew Loupe, J.J. Spaun, Adam Hadwin, and Steven Alker) posted rounds of 80 or worse.
The 76 players who teed it up also produced some surprising bogey numbers:
Stat | Round 3 |
---|---|
Doubles | 25 |
Triples | 7 |
Other | 2 |
J.J. Spaun made a quintuple-bogey nine at the par-4 12th, while Steven Alker wrote down a sextuplet-bogey nine at the par-3 third.
