5 players who came out of nowhere to find success on tour

The 2017 NFL Draft concludes Saturday, with rounds four through seven taking place. While most of those selected won't play a game in the NFL, there have been some gems taken in the later rounds, like Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, and Richard Sherman.

In honor of those diamonds in the rough, here are five golfers that came out of nowhere to find success on the PGA Tour.

Rich Beem

Beem made $7 an hour selling phones and car stereos before making a tour. The Texan won his first PGA Tour title in 1999 at the Kemper Open, and three years later upset Tiger Woods at the 2002 PGA Championship at Hazeltine.

Y.E. Yang

The South Korean didn't pick up the game until the age of 19, when he was working at a driving range. Yang won the HSBC-Champions in 2007, then claimed the 2009 Honda Classic for his first PGA Tour victory. Five months later, Yang pulled off one of the biggest shockers in golf, erasing Tiger Woods' 54-hole lead to win the PGA Championship at Hazeltine.

John Daly

Daly was the ninth alternate for the 1991 PGA Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club, but got into the field when Nick Price withdrew and the other eight players couldn't arrive on time. Daly won the championship by overpowering the course, and would go on to win four more times on tour, including the 1995 Open Championship.

Padraig Harrington

The Irishman was an accountant while playing amateur golf, before finally turning pro in 1994. Harrington has recorded six PGA Tour wins, 15 European Tour titles, and three major championships in his career.

Vijay Singh

The World Golf Hall of Fame member grew up in Fiji, and kicked around a number of tours before finding success in America. Singh worked as a resident professional at the Keningau Club in Malaysia, and was a nightclub bouncer in Edinburgh. Singh won his first of 34 PGA Tour titles at the 1993 Buick Classic, and would finish his career with three major championships.
