The 143rd edition of the Kentucky Derby takes place Saturday evening at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

The Run for the Roses has many traditions, from drinking mint juleps to elaborate hats for the women in attendance.

In honor of the race's headwear history, here are the five best golf hats that have ever appeared on the PGA Tour.

5. Lee Trevino

The six-time major champion was featuring the flat-brim look as far back as 1980s.

4. Tom Kite

The 1992 U.S. Open champion's trademark was his Panama hat.

3. Greg Norman

Norman's straw "Great White Shark" hat was extremely popular in the 1990s.

2. Ben Hogan

Hogan wore the classic, elegant-looking ivy cap, seen here at the 1950 U.S. Open at Merion.

1. Jesper Parnevik

The Swede doesn't wear the flipped-bill hat anymore, preferring straw hats or visors, but for years, this was his best look.
