The error lead to the destruction of his Callaway driver, and a bogey six on the par 5.

Pieters was unable to replace the club because it wasn't damaged in the normal course of play, but it didn't seem to hurt him, making three birdies on the back nine.
The 25-year-old fired a 2-under-par 69, and sits in a tie for second place at 7-under par for the tournament.
