Jim Nantz: Tony Romo will get exemption into PGA Tour event
Tony Romo is going to get a chance to play in a PGA Tour event this season.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback will reportedly tee it up with the game's best at an official PGA event in 2018, at least according to CBS Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz.
"He's going to play in a Tour event," Nantz told Jessica Marksbury of golf.com at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. "He's going to get an exemption in the next - let's just say two months. So he's going to put it out there on the line."
Romo, who's a scratch golfer, has tried to qualify for the U.S. Open on a couple of occasions, but hasn't made it out of local qualifying.
"He's a golf fanatic," added Nantz. "He actually carries a putter with him on the road, even up into the booth. Sometimes I see him over in the corner, he's practicing his stroke as we're in commercial and he's all in on the sport."
Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry accepted a sponsor's invitation to compete in the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic in August, but missed the cut by 11 shots.
