Tiger surges up The Open leaderboard with 66 on moving day
Tiger Woods made a ton of noise on moving day, firing a 5-under 66 in Round 3 to charge up The Open leaderboard.
After parring his first three holes, Tiger eventually broke through with a birdie on No. 4, followed by another birdie on the sixth.
However, it wasn't until the ninth when his round reached a different level.
Tiger was forced to hack the ball to the center of the green after driving it into the fescue, leaving him with about 40 feet for birdie. He proceeded to drain the putt to make the turn at 3-under.
Woods kicked off his back nine with back-to-back birdies, one of which came after an incredible approach shot on 10 left him with a tap-in.
The three-time Open champion also birdied the par-5 14th.
On the difficult three closing holes, Tiger bogeyed the 16th but made a remarkable par on No. 18 to save his round after nearly driving the ball into the burn.
After starting the day six shots back, Woods got to the clubhouse two shots behind leader Kevin Kisner.
