You most likely remember former MLB player Eric Byrnes from his decade-long career patrolling major-league outfields. However, these days, Byrnes is making a name for himself on the links instead of the diamond.

Over the weekend, Byrnes - now an MLB Network analyst - set a Guinness World Record for "most holes played in 12 hours without a cart" after completing 245 holes at Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park in northern California.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the record, aside from him playing that much golf without the sweet aid of a power cart, was that Byrnes completed all his shots using only an 8-iron, and only stopped or slowed down to tee off or hole putts.

He took a majority of his shots one-handed, allowing him to move around the course much faster.

The previous record was held by New Zealand native Brad Luiten at 237 holes, but pending review by Guinness, the record now belongs to Byrnes. The record was attempted in the name of a good cause, as Byrnes raised over $5,000 for non-toxic lymphoma research.

Byrnes suited up in 963 games for the Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Diamondbacks, and most recently the Seattle Mariners.
