As the face of Nike for decades, Tiger Woods seemed impressed with the company's latest campaign featuring former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, which debuted during the NFL's season-opening game on Thursday night.

"I think Nike is trying to get out ahead of it and try to do something that's special and I think they've done that," Woods said on Friday after Round 2 at the BMW Championship. "It's a beautiful spot and some pretty powerful people in the spot."

The commercial, narrated by Kaepernick, features LeBron James and Serena Williams, among others, and includes the quote "believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything," which references Kaepernick's protest against racial inequality that's made waves throughout the NFL.

Tiger - who signed with Nike the day he turned pro in 1996 and has represented the brand ever since - was not made aware of the commercial before its release.

"No, they did not tell me it was coming," he added. "When corporate does things that are outside of golf and outside of my realm, it's what they do."

This is the second time in the past two weeks the golf icon has been questioned about his opinion on social and political topics.

At The Northern Trust, Tiger was asked about his relationship with President Donald Trump. He said it's important to "respect the office" and avoided controversy.
