5 best golf shots from 2018

With 2018 coming to a close and the new PGA Tour season right around the corner, take a moment to relive the five best shots from this past year.

5. Justin Thomas - WGC-Mexico Championship

On the 72nd hole at the WGC-Mexico Championship, Justin Thomas stood over a 120-yard approach, one back of the lead. He proceeded to flush it, twirl his club, and pull the string for an eagle on the par-4 18th to take sole possession of the lead. Phil Mickelson caught him at 16-under and eventually defeated Thomas in a playoff.

4. Tiger Woods - Open Championship

Tiger Woods' 2018 season was full of moments in which he looked all-the-way back - prior to his Tour Championship win, of course. But the most notable of all was his bunker shot on No. 10 during the final round of the Open Championship at Carnoustie. Even Tiger said was his best shot of the year. If it's good enough for Tiger, it's good enough to crack our top five.

3. Dustin Johnson - St. Jude Classic

Dustin Johnson was already in total control of the St. Jude Classic when he played the 18th, but a comfy win wasn't enough. He striped one from 171 yards and casually walked after it, holing out for eagle to seal a six-shot victory - and cracking a modest smile in the process.

2. Dustin Johnson - Tournament of Champions

Johnson displayed superhuman skill once again with this 433-yard drive that ended up inches away from the hole. Sure, he had a comfy lead in the first event of the year at the Tournament of Champions, but rarely do you see tap-in eagles from over 400 yards.

1. Brooks Koepka - PGA Championship

With Tiger breathing down his neck late on the final day of the PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka stepped up to the 248-yard 16th at Bellerive and delivered a piercing strike that wound up a few feet from the cup. Koepka called it "one of the best shots I've ever hit under pressure" as he cruised to his second major win of the season. Given the circumstances and the stakes, it's tough to imagine him hitting a better shot than this one.
