Niemann takes 2-shot lead into final round at Greenbrier
Joaquin Niemann carded a 2-under 68 in Round 3 of A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier to take a two-shot lead into Sunday's finale.
The 20-year-old finally made his first bogey of the tournament, which came on No. 11 at The Old White TPC course in West Virginia. However, his three birdies were enough to maintain his edge after Saturday's round.
The Chilean is the youngest player in the field and is looking to hang on for his first win on the PGA Tour. Niemann finished T-5 at the Greenbrier in 2018.
Here's how the leaderboard stands after Day 3:
| Place | Player | To Par | R3 Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Joaquin Niemann | -15 | 68 |
| T2 | Richy Werenski | -13 | 65 |
| T2 | Nate Lashley | -13 | 65 |
| T2 | Robby Shelton | -13 | 70 |
| T5 | Adam Long | -12 | 70 |
| T5 | Scottie Scheffler | -12 | 71 |
Scottie Scheffler, who shared the lead with Niemann after Round 2, shot 71 to drop three strokes off the pace. He finished his round with back-to-back birdies to improve his chances of winning in his first start since graduating from the Korn Ferry Tour.
Richy Werenski and Nate Lashley posted 5-under 65s to climb into a share of second. They are joined by first-round leader Robby Shelton.
After shooting an 11-under 59 yesterday, Kevin Chappell turned in a 73 to fall into a tie for 29th at 7-under for the week.
