Tiger headlines 2021 Hall of Fame nominees
Tiger Woods was named as one of 10 nominees eligible for induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2021, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Woods is joined by notables Padraig Harrington, Tom Weiskopf, Susie Maxwell Berning, Dottie Pepper, and former PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem.
Tiger, whose 82 PGA Tour victories and 15 major championships make him an automatic selection, became eligible after the Hall of Fame reduced the age requirement from 50 to 45 last month. Woods turns 45 in December.
Harrington, a three-time major winner, also benefits from this change.
Johnny Farrell rounds out the Male Competitor category. Beverly Hanson and Sandra Palmer are the two other nominees in the Female Competitor category, and Marion Hollins joins Finchem in the Contributor section.
Nominees must receive 75% of the vote from the Hall of Fame's Selection Committee in order to be inducted. The Hall of Fame holds induction ceremonies every two years.
Details about the 2021 induction ceremony will be announced "in the coming weeks," according to the Hall of Fame.
