Honda Classic's new slot for 2020-21 shakes up Florida swing
The Honda Classic will move from its late-February date to the week after The Players Championship for the 2020-21 season, according to The Palm Beach Post's Tom D'Angelo.
Next year's Honda Classic will be played on March 18-21.
The move is a required change because there's now one fewer week on the PGA Tour's calendar between the start of the 2021 season and the Masters. Honda Classic executive director Ken Kennerly expects the tournament to remain in the mid-March slot for the next three years due to that schedule structure.
The Valspar Championship was previously held the week following The Players Championship. It will now be pushed back to late April and into weeks the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship currently hold.
The PGA Tour's west coast swing remains unchanged. Starting with Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational, the schedule up until the 2021 Masters will look like this:
Genesis Invitational: Feb. 18-21
WGC-Mexico: Feb. 25-28
Arnold Palmer Invitational: March 4-7
The Players Championship: March 11-14
Honda Classic: March 18-21
WGC-Match Play: March 24-28
Texas Open: April 1-4
The Masters: April 8-11
