Brooks Koepka flew to Las Vegas to visit renowned swing coach Butch Harmon after another disappointing result last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Koepka made the trip Sunday night after carding his eighth consecutive round of 70 or worse on the PGA Tour.

"Claude (Harmon III) is always going to be my coach. Pete (Cowen) is always going to be my short-game coach," Koepka said Wednesday at The Players. "I felt like I had so much going on in my head, so many swing thoughts, and needed to clear the slate. The Harmons are family to me."

Koepka's current coach, Claude, is the son of Butch, who famously worked with Tiger Woods for over a decade.

"Butch has seen my swing it a million times," Koepka added. "It's just one of those things where I needed a different set of eyes."

The four-time major winner expected to spend two days in Las Vegas instead of practicing at TPC Sawgrass in preparation for The Players. Instead, Koepka said Butch identified the issue in four swings and sent him home early.

The world's No. 3-ranked player made it clear that the visit to Las Vegas was no reflection of his current coaches' work.

"I was failing. Claude was telling me the same things he's said for five years, the three keys we've worked on. And for some reason, I just couldn't do it," Koepka admitted. "That's on me. It's not Claude's fault, it's not Pete's fault, it's not anybody's fault except my own."

Koepka will be looking for his first top-15 result of the season at TPC Sawgrass, where his best career finish was a T-11 in 2018. He tees off alongside Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm on Thursday at 1:51 p.m. ET.
