McIlroy: Masters in October 'would be pretty cool'

Rory McIlroy has chased the elusive green jacket in the month of April his entire career, and as rumors swirl about the Masters potentially moving to October, the world No. 1 is open to a change.

"A Masters in the fall, October time, I think it would be pretty cool," McIlroy said, according to Golf Channel's Will Gray. "It would be a very different look than what you usually see at Augusta. I think it's definitely a possibility if they want to get the 2020 Masters in, I think that could definitely be a possibility. I'm sure they can make it happen if they want it to happen."

After the 2020 Masters was put on hold until "some later date," many began to speculate when the tournament could be held. Augusta National is traditionally closed during the summer because of extreme heat and less-than-ideal turf conditions, and reopens to members in the fall.

Recently, hotels in the Augusta area began hiking rates, indicating the potential for an October tournament.

Additionally, members of the golf media who booked hotels for the second weekend in October saw their reservations canceled.
