The PGA Tour plans to restart its season June 11 after halting due to the coronavirus pandemic. Each day until then, we'll highlight key moments, people, or facts relating to where we are in the countdown.

What's the best college team you've probably never heard of?

The 1975 Wake Forest men's golf team.

Led by future Hall of Famer Curtis Strange and nine-time PGA Tour winner Jay Haas, the Demon Deacons successfully defended their national title with a record-setting 33-stroke victory over the four-round event.

With a narrow lead of six going into the final round, Strange posted a tournament-best 67, Haas fired a 70, and the two other members of the team, Bob Byman and David Thore, shot a 73 and 74, respectively. These four brilliant rounds extended their winning margin to 33.

Haas also took home the NCAA's individual title in 1975 over Alabama's Jerry Pate. Strange won the individual honor a year prior.

Golf World Magazine proclaimed the 1975 Demon Deacons as the "Best College Team Ever" in its May 2001 issue. The team won a total of seven tournaments.

No one came close to breaking the Demon Deacons' record until the team portion of the NCAA Championship was switched to match play in 2009.

Strange and Haas went onto successful professional careers. Strange won 17 times on the PGA Tour, including back-to-back U.S. Opens in 1988 and '89. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.

Haas earned nine Tour titles and holds the record for most career cuts made with 592. After making the jump to the Champions Tour, he added 18 victories to his resume. Haas and Strange were both members of the winning American Ryder Cup team in 1983.

Byman was the only other member of the 1975 squad to win on the PGA Tour, doing so in 1979 at Bay Hill.
