The PGA Tour announced on Wednesday that it has engaged Sanford Health to administer all on-site COVID-19 tests for players, caddies, and essential personnel for the return of play on June 11 through the end of the season.
The agreement also covers all testing on the Korn Ferry Tour, which restarts June 11 as well.
A mobile testing unit - one for both the PGA and Korn Ferry Tour - will arrive at a tournament on the Saturday prior to the event and remain on-site through Thursday before traveling to the next tournament. The units can conduct approximately 400 nasal swabs each week and return test results typically between two and four hours.
Players will be strongly encouraged - not required - to facilitate an at-home test prior to traveling to the Charles Schwab Challenge, according to Golf Digest's Brian Wacker.
However, if a player does not conduct an at-home test and ultimately tests positive for the coronavirus upon arriving in Fort Worth, Texas, they will not receive a stipend from the PGA Tour to cover costs associated with self-isolating for 14 days at the tournament's location.
Players will have access to the golf course and practice facility while awaiting test results. They'll be granted access to the clubhouse and locker room after the confirmation of a negative test.
