Featured groups announced for Charles Schwab Challenge
The PGA Tour announced the four featured groups for the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday, which will be played at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas on June 11-14.
The event marks the Tour's return after a 12-week hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Group one: Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka
McIlroy is making his first start at the Charles Schwab Challenge, while Rahm has placed in the top five twice. Koepka shot a pair of 63s to finish second during his only appearance at the event in 2018.
Group two: Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth
Thomas is one of two players with multiple wins this season, and he enters the week ranked No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings. A Dallas native, Spieth won the event in 2016.
Group three: Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose
In 2018, Rose became the first player to win both the Charles Schwab Challenge and the FedEx Cup in the same season.
Group four: Phil Mickelson, Kevin Na, Gary Woodland
Na will look to defend his crown after winning the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2019, while Mickelson holds two titles at the event (2000 and 2008). Woodland is the reigning U.S. Open champion, and he's recorded four top-10 finishes this season.
