Tiger skipping star-studded RBC Heritage despite yacht sighting near venue
Tiger Woods is not playing next week's RBC Heritage despite speculation he was returning to the PGA Tour after his yacht was spotted at St. Simons Island, Georgia, only a few miles from the event's venue.
Woods' yacht "Privacy" arrived at St. Simons Island on Wednesday, according to Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard. Woods has previously stayed on his yacht while playing in nearby tournaments.
Even without Tiger, the field set for Harbour Town Golf Links is stacked. Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson will all be in attendance for the second straight week, with McIlroy returning to the Heritage for the first time since 2009.
Rickie Fowler, Webb Simpson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Hideki Matsuyama will join the top five players in the world in the 154-man field. Barring drastic changes, the field will be the strongest ever at the RBC Heritage, according to world-ranking guru "Nosferatu" on Twitter.
The RBC Heritage begins on June 18.
