Slow start hampers Tiger on moving day: Nothing 'got the round going'

Tiger Woods struggled off the tee and on the greens en route to a 2-over 72 in Round 3 to drop further down the leaderboard at the PGA Championship.

Facing an eight-shot deficit going into the weekend, Woods needed to make birdies early and often at TPC Harding Park to make some noise on moving day. However, the 15-time major winner struggled out of the gate.

"I didn't make anything early. I had a couple opportunities to make a couple putts, and I didn't," Tiger said, according to ASAP Sports afterward. "I had a couple lip-outs, and just nothing really got the round going."

Woods played the front nine at 1-over par with no birdies. He then carded three consecutive bogeys early on the back nine to fall to 4-over at one point.

But in typical Tiger fashion, he battled until the very end and made two birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 to salvage his day.

"(I'm) happy the way I finished. I made some putts on the last five holes, but that's about it. It was just a fight all day, and unfortunately just didn't get anything going," he continued.

He ended his day outside the top 60 at 2-over, 10 shots back of Haotong Li who holds the 54-hole lead.
