Tiger Woods capped a disappointing week at the BMW Championship with a 1-over 71 on Sunday to put an end to his 2019-20 season.

Woods needed a strong outing at Olympia Fields to secure a spot in next week's Tour Championship but failed to deliver. He finished the event at 11-over par and outside of the top 50.

"I didn't play as well as I wanted to the first couple days," Tiger said afterward. "Today was nice. I hit the ball really well and made only a couple putts, but today was more indicative of how I want to play in a couple weeks."

His performance in Chicago is only the fifth tournament in his career during which he's shot over par in all four rounds, and the first time in the last 10 years.

Tiger played in just seven tournaments this season, which he started strong with a win at the Zozo Championship in October. However, after finishing in the top 10 at the Farmers Insurance Open, he didn't crack the top 35 in his remaining six events.

"It's been a very awkward year for all of us, with the virus and not having to play," Tiger summarized. "The majors moved around, question mark on if we're going to play the Tour, when we're going to play the Tour, guys testing positive. ... I think a difficult year and difficult season for anyone involved in the sport of golf."

Woods will now have the next two weeks off before teeing it up at Winged Foot for the U.S. Open, which starts on Sept. 17.
