Tiger Woods got off to a poor start in his Zozo Championship title defense, carding a 4-over 76 to sit near the bottom of the leaderboard after Round 1 on Thursday.
During his first competitive round since the U.S. Open, Woods played the five par 5s at Sherwood Country Club at 3-over par, which ties his worst career performance on a set of par 5s, according to the PGA Tour.
He carded only two birdies, along with four bogeys and a double-bogey to sit 12 shots off the pace that first-round leader Sebastian Munoz established.
Tiger is a five-time winner at Sherwood, and 76 is his highest score posted at the Southern California venue.
He declined to speak with the media following his opening round.
