Charles Barkley, Peyton Manning trade jabs ahead of The Match
The trash talk has started between Charles Barkley, Phil Mickelson, Stephen Curry, and Peyton Manning prior to "The Match: Champions for Change."
The foursome took part in a virtual press conference Monday, with Barkley and Manning exchanging some jabs.
"Peyton, I just gotta make sure he got my phone number. He be texting me all the time, but since Tennessee hasn't won a game, it's been a few weeks since he texted me," Barkley said, referencing Manning's alma mater struggling recently on the football field.
Manning said it's "more of a mental strategy" from Curry and him not to text their opponents. He was also surprised to learn that Barkley practiced at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Arizona in preparation for the event.
"That's kind of news to me that Charles has been to Stone Canyon three times," Manning said. "He hasn't played golf, he's just gone there to eat three times. They have great lunch and dinner service. So, this will be his first time playing the course in the actual match on Friday."
The third installment of The Match airs Friday at 3 p.m. ET on TNT, and it will raise money for historically Black colleges and universities.
