Reed, Noren share 1st-round lead at Farmers Insurance Open
Patrick Reed and Alex Noren posted rounds of 8-under 64 on the North Course at Torrey Pines to share the first-round lead at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Reed went bogey-free on Thursday to begin his week in San Diego after hitting 10 of 14 fairways and 15 greens in regulation.
"Felt like I hit the ball well," Reed said afterward, according to ASAP Sports. "Left myself with a lot of good opportunities, a lot of makeable putts, and when you're doing that around a golf course like the North, you have to go take advantage of it, especially with what's coming within the next 24 hours."
Reed alluded to harsh weather that's expected on Friday at Torrey Pines, possibly causing delays for the rest of the week.
Meanwhile, Noren reached 8-under with an eagle and one bogey. The Swede lost in a playoff to Jason Day at the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.

Rory McIlroy signed for a 4-under 68 after his lap around the South Course. He did all his damage on the front nine before playing the back nine at even par.
Jon Rahm (3-under) and Tony Finau (3-under) got off to solid starts. As did Jordan Spieth, who shot 3-under on the North Course.
