Rahm: I'd do same thing Na did after Johnson picked up putt
Jon Rahm revealed how he handles conceding putts and came to the defense of Kevin Na after his controversial incident with Dustin Johnson on Friday at the WGC-Match Play.
Johnson missed a birdie putt to leave a tap-in for par in their Round 3 match, but he quickly picked up his ball before Na conceded.
Na told Johnson on the 11th green that the latter must wait for the official word even if the remaining putt was short.
"I try to say it loud and clear before they get to the ball," Rahm said, according to ASAP Sports. "Even if it's something that I was going to give to them and they do (pick it up), I would just tell them the same thing, 'Hey, next time just wait for me so you don't get in trouble.'"
He added: "Sometimes if it's a two-footer with some slope maybe you can think about it, but if it's something like that, I would have done exactly the same thing Kevin Na would have done."
Technically, Na could have argued he won the hole because he didn't give a concession before Johnson picked up. However, the two agreed the hole would be halved, as Na had roughly three feet remaining for his par.

"I wasn't going to say, 'That's a penalty, you're going to lose the hole,'" Na said, according to ASAP Sports. "I was going to say, 'You know what, that was good anyway.' I didn't want to be over that putt and be thinking about that. So I called him over and said, 'Hey, I'm not going to take the hole from you but I just want to let you know before I said something you whacked the ball. But I'm going to give that putt to you so we'll call it a halve and go to the next hole.'"
Na was 1-down at the time but completed the comeback by winning the final two holes to knock the world No. 1 out of the tournament.
