Report: DeChambeau offered $135M to join Super Golf League
The Saudi-backed Super Golf League offered Bryson DeChambeau $135 million to join the upstart rival circuit, sources told Sportsmail.
DeChambeau's offer is the highest to leak to this point. The SGL also reportedly offered Ian Poulter £22 million, while former World No. 1 Dustin Johnson said this week he couldn't disclose whether he received an offer.
Phil Mickelson recently blasted the PGA TOUR's "obnoxious greed" and said it could lead to him pursuing other opportunities.
DeChambeau is ranked ninth in the world, but his pursuit of maximum distance off the tee in recent years has made him one of the most popular golfers.
Any player who joins the SGL faces the possibility of being banned from PGA TOUR and DP World Tour events and barred from participating in the Ryder Cup.
The SGL is ready to commit $1.5 billion to prospective players, per Sportsmail.
