Tiger shoots 69 in Round 2 to make cut at PGA Championship

Tiger Woods shot a 1-under 69 on Friday at Southern Hills and made the PGA Championship cut as he sits at 3-over for the tournament.

"You can't win the tournament unless you make the cut," said Woods, according to Golf Magazine's Dylan Dethier. "There's a reason you fight hard and make the weekend. You just never know, you might get hot."

The cut heading into the weekend is 4-over with Will Zalatoris holding on to the lead at 9-under.

Tiger made four birdies, one bogey, and a double-bogey at the par-3 11th on Friday en route to 69.

Woods won the PGA Championship the last time it was played at Southern Hills in 2007. He beat Woody Austin by two strokes.

Woods, who also made the cut last month at the Masters Tournament, shot a first-round 74 on Thursday. Following Round 1, Woods admitted he'd been dealing with pain in his leg.

The 46-year-old suffered serious injuries in his right leg from a car accident in February 2021. The Masters in April was his first official golf tournament since the accident.

Woods played in a group alongside Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy for the first two rounds of the tournament this week.

Spieth, who's chasing a career Grand Slam this week, also shot a 69 and is 1-over for the tournament. McIlroy, who held the 18-hole lead, shot a 1-over 71 on Friday and is 4-under for the tourney.
