Sam Burns: Staying with TOUR was 'pretty easy decision'

World No. 11 Sam Burns has made it clear he plans to stay with the PGA TOUR.

While speaking to the media ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Tuesday, the 26-year-old said that choosing to stay with the PGA TOUR and not joining Greg Norman's Saudi-backed golf series was "a pretty easy decision," according to Golf's Dylan Dethier.

Burns also added his decision wasn't ever really up in the air.

"Everyone knows me knows that I never really had any intent to go anywhere else," the Louisiana product said.

Burns has four victories on the PGA TOUR since joining in 2019. Three of which have come this season - tied for second-most of any player on TOUR this year with Xander Schauffele and Cameron Smith. However, Smith recently reportedly signed with LIV Golf.

First on the victory leaders list is Scottie Scheffler, who became the World No. 1 this year largely due to his four wins on TOUR this season.

Scheffler, also 26, has been transparent about his support of the TOUR in the past. He restated his loyalty to the league recently, according to Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, per Golfweek.

"For me, I feel like the PGA TOUR is the best place to play," said Scheffler, adding that his dream was to play on the TOUR, not the "financial benefits."

"The PGA TOUR is where I want to play," said Scheffler. "And it continues to be the place where the best golfers in the world play and the opportunity to win FedEx Cup and opportunity to win major championships and to win tournaments out here."

Scheffler also touched on the recent lawsuit filed by LIV Golf players against the PGA TOUR, calling it "a bit frustrating."

"I heard that was going to happen and I know some guys aren't surprised to see it, but I definitely am surprised to see some guys now suing us," said Scheffler.
