Tiger Woods announces field for Hero World Challenge
Tiger Woods' Hero World Challenge is back this season, and the 15-time major champion unveiled 17 of the 20 players on Tuesday who'll compete in this year's event.
The field is highlighted by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, former No. 1 Jon Rahm, and current world No. 7 Justin Thomas, among many more of the world's top TOUR players.
Will Zalatoris, Cameron Young, Sungjae Im, Max Homa, and Tom Kim will be making their Hero World Challenge debuts this year.
Zalatoris has been notably out with a back injury since the BMW Championship of the FedEx Cup Playoffs last season. He was also unable to play in the Presidents Cup in late September due to the injury.
The December tournament - which is an annual event hosted by Woods - showcases 20 of the world's best men's golfers competing in the Bahamas. Last season, Viktor Hovland edged out Scheffler by one stroke to win $1 million.
The tournament features a $3.5-million purse but doesn't award FedEx Cup points as it is classified as an unofficial event on the PGA TOUR.
There are still three tournament exemptions to be filled in the field that will be announced later.
The tournament is set for Dec. 1-4 in Albany, Bahamas. Below is the full list of names announced Tuesday and their current world ranking:
